CONCRETE JUNGLE ROCKERS @ HOWLER
Aztek Electronic Music presents an Afro-Beat, Aztek-Dub and Trip-Hop night @ Howler. Three full bands will rock the floors and structure of the venue infusing the atmosphere with tight horns, shaking basslines, beats and electronica galore + dubs. All the arsenal to rock the concrete jungle.
Expect amazing digital visuals that react to sound, fullness of sound and an exceptional night of moving groove & bass electronica + live music from one of Austrlian afro-beat biggest representatives: Papachango, Nahuatl Sound System’s live electronica and mexican-style dub with guest mcs, singers and Melbourne’s trip-hop contemporary outfit Bachu.
Whether you’re lulled into a trance by the dark, visceral melodies or energized by the afro-inspired rhythms you will be moved, one way or another, by Papa Chango. With a line-up comprising horns, percussion, guitars and the mighty Farfisa organ, the Melbourne based 9-piece provide a modern take on sounds from the 1970’s Ethio-jazz and afro-funk movements.
NAHUATL SOUND SYSTEM
The pioneer of the Aztek Style of Dub and Aztek Electronic Music. Experience the fullness of sound through the bass-heavy and combative tracks from this unique soundsystem. Successfully combining Punk, Dub, Techno, Cumbia Reggae and Hiphop.
Powerful sound, tropical percussions, striking horn melodies and Mexican Anarchic Attitude.
Melbourne five piece BACHU take listeners on an experimental voyage, weaving through a jungle of distortion, trip-hop beats, bi-lingual romance and passionate insanity.
Led by nomadic singer and songwriter, Jess Fairfax and featuring band members from Colombia, Ethiopia and Armenia the compositions are reminiscent of global travels and diverse surroundings, incorporating miss-fit rhythms and fervent stories told through a tangle of English and Spanish lyrics.
